Servers currently in use in the Department include:

  • 2 Windows 2003 servers

HARDWARE
Along with our well equipped laboratories we try to ensure all of our hardware is up-to-date. The majority of the computers you will use should be less than three-years old. We have a cyclic hardware replacement policy which means we are continually upgrading the computers in our laboratories. The following gives an indication of the hardware available to students*:

DUAL BOOT SYSTEMS

In addition to our standard clusters, we also have a number of labs that offer dual-boot facilities between Linux and Windows. Typically we have two 60-seater labs and two 24-seater labs which offer this facility.

*Equipment specified is available to all School of Informatics students, however, restrictions to certain systems may apply depending on the course of study. Due to our continual upgrade policy, hardware specifications may change at short notice.
