CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION*

The procedures, criteria and regulations for admission to this programme of study operate within the parameters defined by the University's Ordinance for Postgraduate courses.

Offers are made following detailed consideration of each individual application.  Most important in the decision to offer a place is our assessment of a candidate’s potential to benefit from their studies and of their ability to succeed on this particular course.

Generally, applicants are expected to possess a good Honours degree (normally 2:2 or above) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics or other computer-related subjects from an approved degree-awarding body. Alternatively an honours degree in any subject relevant to the field(s) of the Multidisciplinary Computing programme of study together with skills and relevant experience in a computer-related area (i.e. a good Honours degree in public policy, programme management, biomedical sciences or related subjects) would be acceptable.

Candidates applying to the course with non-standard qualifications will be judged on an individual basis using the University’s APEL procedures. Candidates’ suitability for the study areas specified in the application will take place prior to admission to the course and will be assessed by a team from the relevant departments (i.e. course tutors/module coordinators from relevant postgraduate programmes).

In addition, a test of written and spoken English normally needs to have been passed at grade 6.0 for IELTS or 550 for TOEFL (or 250 for the computer-based test) or above.

*Admission requirements may be subject to change.
